▷ How to make a homemade heat gun step by step

In this project, you will learn how to build a homemade heat gun using accessible and economical materials. This device is ideal for DIY projects, electronics, heat-shrinking cables, and other projects where controlled heat application is required. We will explore the essential components, such as a heating element, a fan, and a heat-resistant body, as well as the basic principles of its operation. Follow our detailed instructions to create a functional and safe tool for your home projects.

MATERIALS:

The materials I used are as follows:

  • Soldering iron
  • Steel tube
  • Fan
  • 9V battery
  • 9V battery connector
  • Square bottle

PROCEDURE:

First, we prepare the materials.

- We remove the screws and tip from the soldering iron.

- We make a small cut in the tube as follows:

- We cut the top part of the bottle.

JOINING THE MATERIALS

We place the fan inside the top part of the bottle as follows.

We wrap the metal part of the soldering iron with a material resistant to high temperatures. I used a piece of an aluminum tray that is used at Christmas to bake the turkey.

We remove the part of the soldering iron and insert the wrapped part into the steel tube.

Next, we insert the metal part of the soldering iron.

The cut we made in the tube allows us to insert a few centimeters of the wires that connect to the soldering iron coil, so we can fit the tube into the spout of the bottle as shown in the following image.

We adjusted all the joints with solid wire.

We connected the battery to the handle of the soldering iron using insulating tape and soldered the battery connector (clip) to the fan wires, respecting polarities.

We connected one pole of the battery to the battery connector (clip).

To turn on the fan, we simply make contact with the poles that are not connected.
